im not sure how they have not figured out alreadythis is just not a very effecient way to do ps4 not downloading updates in rest mode after its been out so long and so many have posted this same issue. Because it's likely similar to how the PS3 downloaded patches and games and uploaded saves during a set time frame that you set it to do during a 2 hour window.

I launched Dark Souls 3 and had to manually install the update, which was released on Monday. when was last time you played it? I know if a game has not been played in last 30 days i think, it wont even check for an update for it.
It installed minecraft update yesterday. I've not touched that since christmas. But not Darksouls III, that didn't install until I turned on the machine. I don't get it. The PS4 only pings the servers like ONCE a day, on an odd hour when updates are usually pushed out. I mean Steam doesn't even fucking charge a cent and you get updates as soon as it's pushed out! This is one of my gripes with the system. I don't mind that it only automatically updates recent games, but it should have a manual menu button to update all installed games and apps.

I believe it then starts the download for everything that has a recent update. edit: I meant while it is in rest mode and you are not home. Buy something on your phone or computer. I meant while in rest mode and you aren't home. so if anything is pushed out past that it will either download when you boot up or download at the same time the next day.
